Fairbanks is the second largest city in the state of Alaska, US. The city is the home to the oldest college in Alaska called University of Alaska Fairbanks. The city is 358 miles away from the city of Anchorage and signifies the end of Alaska Highway. The state of Alaska is famous for harsh winter season. But the people of the state enjoy the summer to the fullest. Fairbanks has earned the title “The Golden Heart of Alaska”. Due to its proximity to the Arctic Circle, Fairbanks has very long summers as long as 21 hours and short winters in the sense that the shortest winter day has less than three hours of sunlight.
Earlier known as “The land of Thousand Smokes” in view of volcanoes and earthquakes that shook the city very often, the state of Alaska is now known as “The Last Frontier”. The state of Alaska houses a wide variety of landscapes ranging from small waterfalls to lofty mountains together with treeless Tundra, glaciers and hot springs.The city of Fairbanks is served by Fairbanks International Airport that plies scheduled jet flights to different cities of US. The principal airlines supplying flights to the city is Alaska Airlines. However the airlines do not ply direct flights from Fairbanks to Orlando.
Alaska Airlines is an airline company that functions from its main base at Seattle. The airline has both Orlando and Fairbanks as two of its destinations. But there is no flight from Fairbanks to Orlando. In order to go to Orlando from Fairbanks one has to fly down to Seattle and fro there take a connecting flight to Orlando.
Similar is the case with other airlines that plies flights to the city like Northwest Airlines which operates from its base at Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport. In order to go to Orlando from Fairbanks one has to fly down to Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport and from there take a connecting flight to Orlando International airport.
