Universal Orlando Resort is the name of a theme park resort in the city of Orlando, in the state of Florida, United States. This is one of the important places of tourist interest in the city of Orlando. Universal Orlando Resort consists of two theme parks namely Universal Studios and Island of Adventure together with Universal City Walk which is a destination of night entertainment, and three Loews hotels. Universal Studios and Island of Adventure is the second largest theme park in the city of Orlando after the largest Walt Disney World Resort. The city of Orlando in the state of Florida, United States is famous as a favorite tourist destination in US. The theme park is the result of a joint venture between NBC Universal and Blackstone Group.
Island of Adventure was opened as part of the Universal Orlando Resort in May, 1999. The park has six distinct “islands” with different themes. These include:
- Port of Entry
- Marvel Super Hero Island
- Toon Lagoon
- Jurassic Park
- The Lost Continent
- Seus Landing.
The visitors begin to view the resort with Port of Entry and then pass on to the Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, the Lost Continent and end up with Seus Landing. A new island themed on the popular Harry Potter film and book is scheduled to open in May 2009.
Universal Studios Florida is another theme park that was opened in the year 1990. Universal Studios allow the visitors to “Ride the Movies”. The theme park is made such that it helps the visitors feel like being in a movie set with rides that are made by applying the themes of popular movies.
The park consist of six themed areas namely Hollywood, Production Central, New York, San Francisco / Amity, World Expo and KidZone.
Thus visiting Universal Studios and Island of Adventure in the city of Orlando is a wonderful experience. In fact, trip to Orlando remains incomplete without visiting Universal Studios and Island of Adventure.
